Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Amendment
Act 2005 No 93

I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of
the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Children and Young Persons
(Care and Protection) Amendment Act 2005, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 31
December 2005 as the day on which that Act commences except Schedule 1 [1] and [4]–[8].

| Explanatory note |
The object of this Proclamation is to commence the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Amendment Act 2005 except for certain provisions containing amendments to the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 relating to the following:
| (a) | the insertion of definitions of Registrar and rules, |
| (b) | the power of the Children’s Court to issue notices and subpoenas requiring certain persons and witnesses to attend the Court to give evidence and information, |
| (c) | the power of the Children’s Court to issue warrants for the arrest of persons and the granting of bail to such persons. |
This proclamation is made under section 2 of the Act.
