I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Mining Legislation Amendment (Health and Safety) Act 2002, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 September 2003 as the day on which that Act (except for sections 3, 4 and 6 and Schedules 1, 2 and 4) commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Mining Legislation Amendment (Health and Safety) Act 2002 that insert section 341 in the Mining Act 1992. Section 341 provides for the establishment and functions of the Mine Safety Advisory Council.

This Proclamation also commences the formal provisions of the Mining Legislation

Amendment (Health and Safety) Act 2002 (such as the long title of the Act).
