I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Civil Liability Amendment (Personal Responsibility) Act 2002, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 10 January 2003 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a)

Schedule 1 [1], to the extent that it inserts section 5N in the Civil Liability Act 2002,

(b) Schedule 1 [4].

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence certain provisions of the Civil Liability Amendment (Personal Responsibility) Act 2002 so as to enable contracts for the provision of recreational services to exclude certain liabilities and so as to enable structured settlements to be entered into in relation to the payment of certain awards of damages.
