I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Amendment (Standard Minimum Sentencing) Act 2002, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 February 2003 as the day on which that Act (other than Schedule 1 [5] and [7] and Schedule 3.2 [2]) commences.

Explanatory note

This proclamation commences amendments to the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act 1999 relating to standard minimum sentencing, and to the Crimes Act 1900 relating to child sexual assault. Certain amendments relating to the proposed New South Wales Sentencing Council remain uncommenced.
