I, GREG HUNT, Minister for Health, make these Rules under section 10A of the Private Health Insurance (Risk Equalisation Levy) Act 2003.

Part 1Preliminary

1.Name of Rules

These Rules are the Private Health Insurance (Risk Equalisation Levy) Rules 2017.

2.Commencement

These Rules commence on 20 May 2017.

3.Authority

This Rule is made under section 10A of the Private Health Insurance (Risk Equalisation Levy) Act 2003.

4.Definitions

In these rules:

Act means the Private Health Insurance (Risk Equalisation Levy) Act 2003.

amendment Act means the Private Health Insurance (Reinsurance Trust Fund Levy) Amendment Act 2007.

quarter means the period of 3 months ending on the last day of March, June, September or December in a year.

5.Risk equalisation levy day

For the purposes of paragraph 6 (1) (a) of the Act, the 21st day of the second month of each quarter in a financial year is specified as a risk equalisation levy day for that financial year.
