I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor‑General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Privacy Act 1988.

  1. Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Privacy Regulations 2006.

  1. Commencement

These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.

  1. Definitions

In these Regulations:

Act means the Privacy Act 1988.

  1. Designated secrecy provisions

For paragraph 80P (7) (d) of the Act, the following provisions of the Census and Statistics Act 1905 are prescribed:

(a)section 19;

(b)section 19A.
