I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South
Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 June 1999 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) Part l ,
(b) sections 29-31,
(c) Divisions 2 and 3 of Part 4,
(d) sections 61, 64-70, 71 (2) and (3) and 75,

(e)

section 73 to the extent that it repeals the remaining provisions of the Privacy Committee Act 1975,

(f) Schedule 3.1-3.7,
(g) clauses 3-5 of Schedule 4.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 relating to privacy codes of practice, privacy
management plans, the functions of the Privacy Commissioner and the Privacy Advisory

Committee, and certain other matters.
