An Act to amend the definition of “prisoner” in section 4 of the Prisons Act, 1952, consequentially upon the enactment of the Intoxicated Persons Act, 1979. [Assented to, 11th May, 1979.]

Prisons {Intoxicated Persons) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1.           This Act may be cited as the “Prisons (Intoxicated Persons) short title.

Amendment Act, 1979”.

2.      (1) This section and section 1 shall commence on the date Commence-

of assent to this Act.

(2) Except as provided in subsection (1), this Act shall commence on the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Intoxicated Persons Act, 1979.

3. The Prisons Act, 1952, is amended by inserting in paragraph Amendment

(b) of the definition of “prisoner” in section 4 after the word

“authority” the words “or otherwise than under the Intoxicated sec. 4.
