PRISONS AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1996
Made by the Lieutenant-Governor and deputy of the Governor in Executive
Council.
Citation
1. These regulations may be cited as the Prisons Amendment Regulations 1996.
Principal regulations
2. In these regulations the Prisons Regulations 1982* are referred to as the
principal regulations.

Regulation 53A inserted
3. After regulation 53 of the principal regulations the following regulation
is inserted -

Visitors may be required to produce evidence of identity
53A. (1) A visitor to a prisoner who makes and signs a declaration under section 60 of the Act may be required by the superintendent or an officer appointed by the superintendent for the purposes of that section of the Act, to produce evidence of his or her identity at the time of making and signing the declaration.
(2) In subregulation (1) - "evidence of his or her identity" includes a passport, an Australian citizenship certificate, a driver's licence, a Medicare card or any other form of identification that the superintendent or officer considers satisfactory.
Regulation MA amended
4. Regulation 54A of the principal regulations is amended by deleting the
portion of the regulation following "are prescribed -" and substituting the
following -
(a) Albany Regional Prison; (b) Bandyup Women's Prison; (c) Bunbury Regional Prison; (d) Canning Vale Prison; (e) Casuarina Prison; (0 Greenough Regional Prison; and (g) The C. W. Campbell Remand Centre.
Schedule amended
5. The Schedule to the principal regulations is amended by deleting Form 2 a and substituting the following form -

DECLARATION UNDER SECTION 60 OF THE PRISONS
ACT 1981
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When you make a declaration under section 60 of the Prisons Act 1981 you may be required to produce evidence of your identity.
It is an offence to make a declaration under section 60 of the Prisons Act 1981 which is false in a material particular and the maximum penalty for doing so is a fine of $1500 or 18 months' imprisonment, or both the fine and imprisonment.
