An Act to amend section 26 of the Prisoners (Interstate Transfer) Act, 1982, as a consequence of the enactment of the Probation and Parole Act, 1983. [Assented to, 31st December, 1983.]

Prisoners {Interstate Transfer) (Probation and Parole) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1.           This Act may be cited as the “Prisoners (Interstate Transfer)

(Probation and Parole) Amendment Act, 1983’’.

Conunencement.

2.     (1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this Act. (2) Except as provided by subsection (1), thi.s Act shall commence

on—

(a)	the day appointed and notified pursuant to .section 2 (2) of the Probation and Parole Act, 1983; or
(b)	the day on which section 26 of the Prisoners (Interstate Transfer) Act, 1982, commences,

whichever is the later day.

Amendment of Act No. 104,1982.

3. The Prisoners (Interstate Transfer) Act, 1982, is amended by omitting

from section 26 (1) (c) the words “grants of parole’’ and by inserting instead

the words “release cm probation or parole’’.
