(AMENDMENT) ACT.

"Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of

the same, as follows :—

1 . This Act may be cited as the " Prisoners Detention

(Amendment) Act, 191S."

2 . The Prisoners Detention Act, 1908, is amended

as follows: —

(i)   Section two : Omit the definition of " Con­ victed." Insert at end of section the following definition :—

" Prisoner" means any person who is in any prison or place of detention under sentence, or -who is detained therein in default of the payment of any tine or penalty he has been ordered to pay.

(ii) Section four :—

(a)

In subsections one and three omit the word " convicted."

(b)

In subsection four omit " imprisonment or penal servitude", insert in lieu thereof " imprisonment, penal servi­ tude, or detent ion", and add to the subsection the words " or ordered ".

(iii)   Section five : Omit all the words after " remitted to custody" insert in lieu thereof the words " to serve the remainder of the term to which he has been sentenced or ordered, if such term has not expired, but if such term has expired, he shall he discharged from custody".
