ORGANISA· TION ACT [ASSENTED TO 12TH NOVEMBER, 1923.J BE AM:ENDMENT ACT OF 1923 . 1 't enactedby t he K' mg ' s M ost E xce 11 ent M aJ ' esty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, fLS follows : - Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The Primary Pro- and t t" ducers' Organisation Act Amendment Act of 1923," and ~~ ~c~ ~c Ion shall be read as one with *" The Primary Producers' Organisation Act of 1922," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may together be cited as "The Primary Producers' Organisation Acts, 1922 to 1923." Amendment 2. Paragraph (v.) of subsection one of section of s. 14. fourteen of the Principal Act is repealed, and the following paragraph is inserted in lieu thereof :- "(v.) The control and management of the Fund. Empowering the Council to make a general levy on primary producers for admin- istrative purposes: Pr9vided as follows :- (a) No poll of primary producers shall be demandable or taken on the question of the making of such general levy; and * 13 Geo. (b) No such general levy shall be made prior to the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four; and (c) No such general levy made in respect to the first year, beginning the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, and ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-five, shall be based on an estimate to yield a sum exceeding twenty thousand pounds; and < d) No such general levy in respect of any year thereafter shall exceed such amount as the Council, with the prior approval of the Governor in Council, shall fix by regulation. . Empowering the Council or any district council to make levies on primary producers in particular industries or sections of industries or any particular districts or localities, and fixing the amount of such levies whether on the same or on different bases in respect to the different industries, operations, districts or localitIes. Providing, if deemed necessary, for the expenditure of the sums raised by any particular levies only in the interests of the particular industry or section of industry or district or locality upon the primary producers in which such levies were made. Providing that before any particular levy is made on the primary producers in any industry, at the request in writing of at least one hundred primary producers in that industry, a poll of such primary pro- ducers shall be held as prescribed, and, if upon such poll, the majority of votes is against the making of such levy, no such levy shall be made upon .the primary pro- ducers in that industry. . Imposing fines not exceeding five pounds. for non-payment of any such levies or moneys by primary producers or persons holding- moneys to the credit of primary producers.'!> 14NGoe.o3. l. V. An Act to Amend "The Primary Products Pools THE Act of 1922" in certain particulars. PRIMARY PRODUCTS POOLS ACT [ASSENTED TO 12TH NOVEMBER, 1923.] AMENDMENT ACT OF 1923. BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty,. by and with the advice and consent of the Legis. lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- Short title 1. This Act may be cited as " The Primary Productg and t t' Pools Act Amendment Act of 1923" and shall be read as ~ ~ ~ c~ c IOn one with *" The Primary Products Pools Act of 1922," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may oe cited together as "The Primary Products Pools Acts, 1922 to 1923." Amendment 2. In the definition of "commodity" in section two of s. 2. of the Principal Act, after the words "dairy produce" the words " (including butter and cheese) and -eggs" are inserted. In the definition of "grower" in the said section, after the word "grown" where it twice occurs the words "or produced" are respectively inserted. Amendment 3. In subsection one of section three of the Principal of 8.3. Act, after the words "dairy produce" the words "(including butter and cheese) or eggs" are inserted. The first paragraph of subsection three of the said section is repealed and the following provision is inserted in lieu thereof :- " Notice of intention to make such Order shall be published in the Gazette and in the Queensland Producer or other official organ of the Council of Agriculture or * 13 Geo.
