Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Amendment Regulations 2003 (No. 6)1

1Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Amendment Regulations 2003 (No. 6).

2Commencement

These Regulations commence as follows:

1. (a)

   on 1 July 2003 — regulations 1 to 3 and Schedule 1;

2. (b)

   on 1 July 2006 — Schedule 2.

3Amendment of Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Regulations 1999

Schedules 1 and 2 amend the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Regulations 1999.

Schedule 2Buffalo slaughter

1Rate of levy

For paragraph 2 (a) of Schedule 2 to the Excise Levies Act, the amount of levy is $8.60 per head.

Note 1 Clause 1 identifies an amount that, under the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development Act 1989, is destined for the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation.

Note 2 A further amount that makes up the levy on buffalo slaughter is set out in paragraph 2 (b) of Schedule 2 to the Excise Levies Act.

Note 3 Clause 1 will remain in force until 30 June 2006 (see Schedule 2 to the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Amendment Regulations 2003 (No. 6)). After that time, the amount destined for the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation will be $4.60 per head under paragraph 2 (a) of Schedule 2 to the Excise Levies Act.

Note 4 For the operative rate of NRS excise levy on buffalo slaughter, see regulation 192 of the Primary Industries Levies and Charges (National Residue Survey Levies) Regulations 1998.

Schedule 2Buffalo slaughter

Note Schedule 2 will deal with buffalo slaughter. For the current levy arrangements for buffalo slaughter, see Schedule 2 to the Excise Levies Act. For the rate of NRS excise levy on buffalo slaughter, see Schedule 11 to the National Residue Survey (Excise) Levy Act 1998.
