Surveillance Authority (Remuneration and Allowances) Regulations
I, THE
GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of
the Federal Executive Council and in pursuance of section 4 of the Acts
Interpretation Act 1901, hereby
make the following Regulations under the Prices Surveillance Act 1983.

Citation
1. These Regulations may
be cited as the Prices Surveillance Authority (Remuneration and Allowances)
Regulations.
Interpretation
2. In these Regulations, “the
Act” means the Prices Surveillance Act
1983.
Remuneration
of the Chairman
3. For the purposes of
sub-section 8 (1) of the Act, remuneration at the rate of $63,936 per annum is
prescribed in respect of the Chairman.
Annual
allowance of the Chairman
4. For the purposes of
sub-section 8 (2) of the Act, an annual allowance at the rate of $2,750 per
annum is prescribed in respect of the Chairman.
Remuneration
of part-time members
5. For the purposes of
sub-section 8 (1) of the Act, remuneration at the rate of $214 per day for each
day on which a part-time member is engaged in the performance of his duties is
prescribed.
Travelling
allowance
6. Where a member is absent
overnight from his ordinary place of residence in the course of the performance
of his duties a travelling allowance is payable to him for the purposes of
sub-section 8 (2) of the Act in respect of each overnight stay at the following
rates:
(a)
for each overnight stay in a capital city—$120; or
(b)
for any other overnight stay—$90.
Witnesses
allowances and expenses
7. (1) For the purposes of
section 39 of the Act, a witness summoned under the Act to appear at an inquiry
shall be paid such allowances for his travelling expenses and other expenses as
he would be entitled to be paid under the scale of expenses for witnesses
specified in the Federal Court Rules if he were a witness appearing before the
Federal Court of Australia.
(2) A reference to the
Federal Court Rules in sub-regulation (1) shall be read as a reference to the
Federal Court Rules as in force from time to time.
