Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to prescribe the 2009 Animal Welfare Code of Practice— Breeding of Dogs and Cats (published by the Department of Industry and Investment) as the relevant code of practice for animal breeding establishments.

This Regulation is made under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979, including section 35 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (General)
Amendment (Breeding of Dogs and Cats) Regulation 2009.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (General) Regulation 2006

Schedule 2 Animal trades and Codes of Practice

Omit the following from Column 2:

Animal Welfare Code of Practice No 6—Breeding Dogs”,

published in 1996 by NSW Agriculture

Animal Welfare Code of Practice No 7—Breeding Cats”,

published in 1996 by NSW Agriculture

Insert instead:

Animal Welfare Code of Practice—Breeding Dogs and Cats”, published in 2009 by the Department of Industry and Investment
