Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment)

Regulations 2001

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to remove
the requirement for accreditation of stock
contractors and rodeo school instructors in the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Regulations

1997.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 42 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on
2 August 2001.

4.  Removal of references to accredited stock contractors and rodeo school instructors

(1) In the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Regulations 19971—

(a)

in regulation 10(1), omit "accredited by the Australian Professional Rodeo Association";

(b) in Schedule 2, omit "accredited";

(c) in Schedule 3—

(i) for "Accredited stock contractor"
substitute "Stock contractor";
(ii) omit "accredited" (where second
occurring);

(d) in Schedule 4—

(i) omit "accredited" (where first
occurring);

(ii)  omit "Australian Professional Riders Association (A.P.R.A.) Accredited";

(iii) omit "A.P.R.A. Accredited" (where
twice occurring);

(e) in Schedule 5—

(i) for "Accredited stock contractor"
substitute "Stock contractor";
(ii) for "Accredited Instructors" substitute
"Instructors";
(iii) for "Accredited Instructor-in-charge"
substitute "Instructor-in-charge";
(iv) omit "accredited" (where fourth
occurring);

r. 4 S.R. No. 65/2001

(2) In regulation 10 of the Prevention of Cruelty to

Animals Regulations 1997, for sub-regulation (4)
substitute—

"(4) A person who proposes to conduct a rodeo

school must, in the application for a permit,
nominate an instructor-in-charge and, for

each class of instruction, an instructor.".
