(AMENDMENT) ACT.

An Act to make further provision in relation to Elizabeth ii,

the coursing of animals; for this and other

purposes to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1901-1952, and the Gaming and Betting Act, 1912-1951; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, ICth December 1953.]

T )E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, -D by and witb tlie advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the “ Prevention of short title

Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Act, 1953.”

(2) The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1901, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1901-1953.

(3) The Gaming and Betting Act, 1912, as

amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be

cited as the Gaming and Betting Act, 1912-1953.

2. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Amen.imcnt

1901-1952, is amended—

(a) (i) by omitting from paragraph (k) of sec.c

subsection one of section four the words

“ coursing or” ;

(ii)  by inserting at the end of paragraph (r) of the same subsection the word “ or” ;

(iii)  by inserting next after the same paragraph the folloAving new paragraph:—

promotes or takes part in the coursing with a dog or dogs of any animal kept or released for the purpose of being coursed,

3. The Gaming and Betting Act, 1912-1951, is
