REGULATION

(Relating to the use of prescribed electrical devices)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

1. This Regulation commences on

2. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (General) Regulation 1981

is amended:

(a)

by omitting from Columns 1, 2 and 3 of Schedule 1 the matter relating to the device commonly known as an “electro-ejaculator” and by inserting instead the following matter:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

(General) Regulation 1981 so as:

(a) to extend the permissible use of an electro-ejaculator to allow the collecting of semen from conscious cattle and sheep and to allow the collecting of semen from tranquillised or anaesthetised animals including cattle and sheep; and
(b) to extend the permissible use of an electric fence to excluding animals from an enclosure.
