HEREAS there is no State Church in the Province of Soutll Preatnblc.

Australia, and all religious bodies tl~ercin are on an cqml footing: wnd whereas the Table of Prececlcnce at present in force in the said Provincc was framed originally for other Colonies, and is entirely unsuited to the circumstances of the said Province, by reason that it gives precedence to certain ministers of religion and leads to uihappy differences wllicll are better avoided; and it is desirable to give power to the Governor, as hereinafter mentioned,

Be it therefore Enacted by the Governor of the Yrovince of South

Australia, with the advice and co~iseut of the Legislative Council and IIouse of Assembly of the said Province, in this prcscnt Parliament assembled, as follows:

on the twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, shall regulate the precedency of all persons therein, except as regards ecclesiastical persons and ministers of religion; but -no ecclesiastical person or minister of religion shall, after the passing of this Act, be entitled to any precedence within the said Province.
