AN ACT to amend sections three and eleven of the
Pre-School Education Act, 1973.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

is referred to as the principal Act.
| (3) | The principal Act as amended by this Act may |
be cited as the Pre-School Education Act, 1973-1974.

Section 3
Section 3 of the principal Act is amended by adding after the word "families" in line nine of the interpretation "pre-school education centre" the passage "or an assembly that takes place in the course of the carrying on of a Government school under the Education Act, 1928".

Section 11

| (a) | by deleting the word "every" in line five of subsection (1) and substituting the word "each"; |
| (b) | by adding after the word "Act" in line six of subsection (1), the words "that is entitled to participate in the election of a represent- ative to fill that vacancy"; |
| (c) | by deleting subsection (2) and substituting a subsection as follows |
(2) Regulations may provide that on a vacancy occurring in the office of repre- sentative member, the member elected to fill that vacancy shall represent the interests of a part of the State specified in the regulations, and shall be elected by the bodies approved under this Act that are named in the electoral roll prepared under the regulations for that part of the State. ; and
| (d) | by substituting for the passage commencing with the word "of" in line five of subsection (3) and ending with the word "manner" in the last line of the subsection, the passage "shall be conducted, according to the pre- ferential system of voting and in the pre- scribed manner, of each body approved under this Act that is named in the elec- toral roll prepared under the regulations for the part of the State to which the vacancy relates". |
