Poultry Industry Assistance Act 1966 (Cth)

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the
“‘research’ means scientific, technical or economic research, and includes—
(
a ) the training of persons for the purposes of any such research;(
b ) the publication of reports, periodicals, books and papers in connexion with any such research;(
c ) the dissemination of information and advice in connexion with scientific, technical or economic matters; and(
d ) any matter incidental to a matter referred to in this definition;”.

a ) by inserting after paragraph (a ) of sub-section (1.) the following paragraph:—“(
aa ) subject to the next succeeding sub-section, amounts equal to one-half of amounts from time to time payable out of the Fund in accordance with approvals given under section 6b of this Act;”; and(
b ) by omitting sub-section (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-sections:—“(1a.) Where the sum of the amounts that, in a financial year, become payable out of the Fund in accordance with approvals given under section 6b of this Act exceeds Two hundred thousand dollars, the excess shall, for the purposes of paragraph (
aa ) of the last preceding sub-section, be disregarded.“(2.) Amounts payable into the Fund by virtue of paragraph (
a ) or paragraph (aa ) of sub-section (1.) of this section are payable out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund.”.
“6. Moneys standing to the credit of the Fund may be expended in accordance with an approval of the Minister given under either of the next two succeeding sections, but shall not be otherwise expended.
“6a.—(1.) The Minister may from time to time approve the payment to a State, out of moneys standing to the credit of the Fund, by way of financial assistance, of such amount or amounts as he determines after taking into account any recommendations made to him by the Council.
“(2.) Payment of an amount to a State in accordance with an approval given under this section is subject to the condition that the amount will be applied by the State for the assistance of the poultry industry and will be so applied in accordance with the directions, if any, of the Minister.
“6b. The Minister may, in accordance with recommendations made to him by the Council, from time to time approve the payment, out of moneys standing to the credit of the Fund, of amounts to be applied for the purposes of such research in connexion with the poultry industry as is specified in the approval.”.
