TXTIIEREAS, pursuant to the “ Public Works Act of 1888,” a Preamble.

to the said Assembly in the follon’ing terms, namely, “ That the Com mittee consider it expedient that the Storage Reservoir at Potts’ Hill be completed, as proposed on the plans and explained in the evidence before the Committee;” And whereas, on the seventh day of November, in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, the said Assembly, by resolution, declared “ that in accordance with the Report from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, it is expedient to construct a Storage Reservoir at Potts’ Hill in connection with the Sydney Water Supply, referred to the Committee for inquiry, at a total estimated cost of One hundred and twenty thousand pounds. A.nd the said resolution was notified in the Gazette on the eighth day of November in the said year. And whereas, pursuant to the said Act, it has become the duty of the Minister to introduce a Bill into the said Assembly to sanction the cari’ying out of such work as aforesaid; Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South "VTales in Parliament assemhled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—■
| Short title. | 1. This Act may be cited as the “ Potts’ Hill Storage Reservoir Act of 1889,” and shall be read Avith the “ Public IVorks Act of 1888.” |
| Work to be carried | 2. The Public AVork more particularly described in the Schedule to this Act shall he carried out by the Secretary for Public AYorks, or the Member of the ExecutiA e Council for the time being charged AAoth the duties of the said Alinister. And such Minister or Member shall, for the purposes of tliis Act and the “ Public M^orks Act of 1888,” he deemed and taken to he the “ Constructing Authority” authorized to enter into contracts, and to exercise all poAvers, do all acts and things, and be responsible in respect of all obligations and liabilities Avhich can ho done or incurred by a “Constructing Authority” under or pursuant to this Act or the said Public Works Act, so far as may be necessary for the carrying out of the work hereby sanctioned. The jilans of such work in this Act referred to are the plans marked “ Potts’ Hill Storage Reservoir,” A and B, signed by the Secretary for Public M^orks, and countersigned by the Acting Engineer-in-Chief for Harhoui’s and Rivers, and deposited in the otiice of the said Secretary. |

SCHEDULE.
Sydney Water Sttpply.
Reservoir at Potts’ Hill, in the parish of Liberty Plains, and county of Cumberland.
The completion of a reservoir, to contain one hundred millions of gallons of water, to meet the possibility of an accident to the pipe connecting Potts’ Hill with Prospect Reservoir, as also to act as a balance reservoir in connection with the dilTerent localities to be supplied through it. The work to be done is delineated on plans A and B, marked, signed, and countersigned as mentioned in section two of this Act.
