PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the undermentioned amended Regulation under the Post and Telegraph Act 1901, namely:—

Telegrams within the Commonwealth—Counting and Charging.

should come into immediate operation, and make the amended Regulation to come into operation forthwith as a Provisional Regulation.

Telegraphic Regulations.

Telegrams within the Commonwealth—Counting and Charging.

Regulation 2 under this head (Gazette No. 26, of 5th June, 1902, p. 257) is amended by the addition at the end thereof of the following paragraph:—

“Each of the following words, when written as one word, or when the two parts of the word are joined by a hyphen, shall be counted as one word, namely:—

(a) Cardinal numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine (inclusive);

(b) Ordinal numbers from twenty-first to ninety-ninth (inclusive); and

(c) the words, half-penny, onepenny, twopenny, twopence, threepenny, threepence, fourpenny, fourpence, fivepenny, fivepence, sixpenny, sixpence, sevenpenny, sevenpence, eightpenny, eightpence, ninepenny, ninepence, tenpenny, tenpence, elevenpenny, and elevenpence.”
