PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901.

 

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the undermentioned amended Regulations under the Post and Telegraph Act 1901, namely:—

General Postal Regulations.

Prepayment in cash, in one sum, of postage on large quantities of mail matter.

Telephone Regulations.

Part 1.—Telephone Exchanges.

should come into immediate operation, and make the amended Regulations to come into operation forthwith as Provisional Regulations.

General Postal Regulations.

Prepayment in cash, in one sum, of postage on large quantities of mail matter.

Paragraph 1, of the regulation under this head (Gazette No. 26, of 5th June, 1902, page 244), is amended:—

(a)by omitting the words “letters, packets,” from the first line and inserting in lieu thereof the words “registered or unregistered letters and packets,” and

(b)by inserting after the word “postage’’ in the second line the words and signs “and registration fees (if any).”

 

Telephone Regulations.

Part 1.—Telephone Exchanges.

1. In these Regulations Statutory Rules 1906, No. 114, as amended by subsequent Statutory Rules, are referred to as the Telephone Regulations.

2. Until the appointed day mentioned in Regulation 7d of the Telephone Regulations, Regulation 6 of the Telephone Regulations shall, notwithstanding its repeal by Statutory Rules 1909, No. 30, be deemed to have continued in force.
