PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901-1910.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the undermentioned amended Regulations under the Post and Telegraph Act 1901-1910, namely:—

General Postal Regulations,

Private Boxes,

should come into immediate operation, and make the amended Regulations to come into operation forthwith as Provisional Regulations.

General Postal Regulations.

Private Boxes.

Regulation 1 under this head (Gazette No. 26of 5th June, 1902, page 244, as amended by Statutory Rules 1908, No. 107) is amended by inserting at the end of sub-regulation (1) the following paragraph:—

“A box-holder may, on payment of a fee of £2per annum, in addition to the fee paid for renting a private box, have the contents of such private box placed in a locked bag and handed to his messenger. The bag, furnished with a lock and two keys—one for the Postmaster and one for the owner—must be provided by the box-holder.”
