An Act to authorize the use of Postage Stamps

for the purposes of the Stamp Acts.	[9th
April, 1873.]

WHEREAS it is expedient that the use of Postage Stamps for the

purposes of the Stamp Acts should he made legal Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows :—

1. This Act shall come into force on the first day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three and may be cited as the
" Postage Stamps Extension Act of 1873."

2. In this Act the term " Stamp Acts" means and includes the Stamp Duties Act of 18G5 as amended by the Act thirty-first Victoria number twenty-six and continued by the thirty-second Victoria number one thirty-third Victoria number four thirty-fourth Victoria number eight thirty-fourth Victoria number thirteen and as further amended and continued by the thirty-fourth Victoria number twenty and thirty-sixth Victoria number four and any Act in force for the time-being relating to stamp duties and also any regulation made under any such Act.

1. Nothing in this Act contained shall affect otherwise than as herein expressly enacted any enactment in the Stamp Acts or in any Act relating to postage rates. No. XVI.

3. From and after the commencement of this Act the stamps issued or to be issued for the purposes of the Postage Act of 1867 or any Act in force for the time being relating wholly or partly to postage rates and commonly known as "postage stamps" shall to the respective amounts denoted thereon be receivable and available as and for payment of any impost or duty chargeable by law under the Stamp Acts And all enactments in the said Stamp Acts relating to stamps shall apply to the said postage stamps when used for the purpose of denoting any such payment as aforesaid as fully to all intents and purposes as if the same were enacted herein.
