REGULATIONS UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901-1916.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the undermentioned amended Regulations under the Post and Telegraph Act 1901-1916 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of the Post and Telegraph Regulations 1913.

(Statutory Rules 1913, No. 348.)

1. Regulation 165 is amended (a)by inserting the words “but not newspapers or packets (including circulars)”, after the words “post cards”, and (b)by inserting at the end thereof the words “If any articles other than letters, letter cards and post cards are posted in a private posting box the box may be withdrawn”.

2. Regulation 170 is repealed and the following regulation is inserted in its stead:—

170. A notice shall be affixed to the boxes as follows:—

“Any article put into this box shall not, for the purpose of any enactment, law, or contract, whereby the due posting is evidence of the receipt thereof by the addressee, be deemed to have been duly posted”

“Articles such as newspapers and packets (including circulars) must not be posted in this box”

The second paragraph of the notice must be printed in prominent letters.
