REGULATION UNDER THE POST AND
TELEGRAPH ACT 1901–1916.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over
the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive
Council, hereby make the undermentioned amended Regulation under the Post
and Telegraph Act 1901–1916 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of
the Post and Telegraph Regulations, 1913.
(Statutory Rules 1913, No. 348, as amended
by Statutory Rules 1916, No. 231.)
Regulation 5 is repealed, and the
following Regulation is inserted in its stead:—
Holiday
Arrangements.
5.
On Christmas Day and Good Friday the same arrangements shall be observed as on
Sunday; and on other Public Holidays the arrangements shall be as follow:—
New Year's Day, Easter Monday,
King's Birthday, Boxing Day, and Holidays proclaimed throughout the
Commonwealth, or appointed or proclaimed in any State or part of a State, and
generally observed in that State or part as Public Holidays.

Half-holidays, see footnote.) | Other Days or Half-days appointed
or proclaimed as Holidays in any State or part of a State, but not generally
observed in that State or part as Holidays.

Note.—If British and Foreign mails arrive, or are despatched, on
any of the above-mentioned holidays, special arrangements must be made to suit
the public convenience.
Note.—In cases where a half-holiday is proclaimed and generally
observed in any State or part of a State, the offices within the area to which
the proclamation applies shall close for public business at 12 noon. Only the
first delivery by letter-carrier shall be effected, and that only if such
delivery is usually effected not later than 12 noon.
