HEREAS it is expedient that provision should be made for Preamble.

Enacted by the Governor-in-Chief of the Province of South Aus- tralia, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the said Province in this present Parliament assembled, as follows:

sections, and books of rcfcrencc lodged in the Surveyor-General's Office, for the purposes of the said underta.liing, as in the said Act more particularly mentioned; and he shall thereupon have and exercise all the powers and a-ithorities by snch Act conferred, for the purpose of constructing such mltlcrtaking in and about making and constructing m y such works for the purpose of supplying such township with water as aforesaici, according to such plans, sections, and books of reference; and after the corriyletioil of such works he shall have and exercise all tlic powers and authorities in respect to such township and works as arc by the said Act cont'exed upon him in respect of the said undertaking, ancl the Town of Port Adelaide: Provided always that the inhabitants of thc said town- ship shall bc charged by the Comrniscioner with the expense of constructing such works, and also with n fair proportionnte part of the expense of the said nndertaking, such propo~tion to he fixed by t.he Comn~issioner, and E U C ~ scclmty to bc lcllicil by him for the payment thtrcof as to the said Commissioner inny swin fit: Pro- vided also that the said rnclnorinl shall bc published at least three

8. I n the construction of this Act, unless inconsistent with the

context, the word Township " shall mean any piece of land which

has been and may hereafter be laid out in allotments, with streets

or roads laid out and reserved for the use of the purchasers of such allotments, and having known and defined boundaries, or the boun- daries whereof shall be properly defined and described in the memo- rial to be presented to the Commissioner as hereinbefore mentioned.
