REGULATIONS UNDER THE
POLLUTION OF THE SEA BY OIL (SHIPPING LEVY) ACT 1972.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of
Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the
following Regulations under the Pollution of the Sea by Oil (Shipping
Levy) Act 1972.

POLLUTION OF THE SEA BY OIL
(SHIPPING LEVY) REGULATIONS
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pollution of the Sea by Oil
(Shipping Levy) Regulations.
Commencement.
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the date fixed by
Proclamation under sub-section 2(1) of the Pollution of the Sea by Oil (Shipping
Levy) Act 1972.
Definition.
3. In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Pollution of the Sea by Oil
(Shipping Levy) Act 1972.
Rate of levy.
4. For the purposes of section 5 of the Act, the rate of levy for a
quarter is One cent per ton of the tonnage of a ship.
