Part 1    Preliminary

1   Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Police Service Administration and Other Legislation Amendment Regulation 2020.

Part 2    Amendment of Police Service Administration Regulation 2016

2   Regulation amended

This part amends the Police Service Administration Regulation 2016.

3   Amendment of s 67 (Approved agencies—Act, s 10.2G)

Section 67—
insert—

(p)the NSW Police Force established under the Police Act 1990 (NSW);

(q)the Police Force under the Police Act 1892 (WA);

(r)the Police Force of the Northern Territory established under the Police Administration Act 1978 (NT);

(s)the Police Service established under the Police Service Act 2003 (Tas);

(t)South Australia Police under the Police Act 1998 (SA);

(u)Victoria Police established under the Victoria Police Act 2013 (Vic).

Part 3    Amendment of Weapons Regulation 2016

4   Regulation amended

This part amends the Weapons Regulation 2016.

5   Insertion of new pt 25A

After part 25—
insert—

Part 25A    Magazines

143A    Prohibition on possession of detachable magazines without licence

(1)A person must not possess a detachable magazine for a category A or B weapon unless—

(a)the person is authorised under a licence to possess and use a category A or B weapon; or

(b)the person has a reasonable excuse.

Maximum penalty—10 penalty units

(2)A person must not possess a detachable magazine for a category C, D, H or R weapon unless—

(a)the person is authorised under a licence to possess and use a category C, D, H or R weapon; or

(b)the person has other lawful authority, justification or excuse.

Maximum penalty—10 penalty units.
