POLICE SERVICE ACT 1990—REGULATION

(Relating to the suspension of commissioned police officers)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Police Service Act 1990, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Police Service Regulation 1990 is amended by omitting clause

40 (4).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Clause 40 of the Police Service Regulation 1990 authorises the Commissioner of Police to suspend police officers in certain circumstances. However, by virtue of clause 40 (4), the Commissioner’s power to suspend does not extend to commissioned police officers.

The object of this Regulation is to so extend the Commissioner’s power.

This Regulation is made under the Police Service Act 1990, including section 181 (the regulation—making power relating to discipline, in particular, section 181 (2)(f)).
