under the Police Service Act 1990 His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Police Service Act 1990. PAUL WHELAN, M.P.,
Minister for Police.The object of this Regulation is to enable members of the transit police service who become police constables to be appointed for a minimum probationary period of l month (similar to the minimum probationary period that currently applies to ex-police officers who rejoin the Police Service) rather than 6 months (the minimum probationary period that currently applies to persons who are not ex-police officers). The Regulation also renumbers a Part and a clause by way of minor law revision. This Regulation is made under the Police Service Act 1990, including section 219 (the general power to make regulations).

2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 14 May 1999.
The Police Service Regulation 1990 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

(Clause 3)
[1] Clause 17 pointment of consta Omit clause 17 (2). Insert instead:
Despite subclause (l), the Commissioner may direct that the period of probation of any such constable be a period of less than 6 months, but more than 1 month:
(a) if the person has previously served as a police officer in the Police Service (or as a member of
the Police Force before 1 July 1990), or
(b) if the person was a member of the transit police service under the Police Department (Transit Police) Act 1989 immediately before 14 May 1999.

Renumber the Part as Part 10.
[3] Clause 117 Police Service Amendment (Complaints and
anagement Reform) Regulation 1999 Renumber the clause as clause 118.
