POLICE REGULATION (SUPERANNUATION)

AMENDMENT ACT.

Act No. 5, 1966.

An Act to increase the superannuation allowances pay- able to certain retired members of the Police Force; for this purpose to amend the Police Regulation (Superannuation) Act, 1906, as amended by subsequent Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 18th March, 1966.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by
and with the advice and consent of the Legislative
Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as
follows: —
1906-1966.

(1) This Act may be cited as the "Police Regulation (Superannuation) Amendment Act, 1966".

(2) The Police Regulation (Superannuation) Act,

1906, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may

be cited as the Police Regulation (Superannuation) Act,

2. The Police Regulation (Superannuation) Act, 1906,

as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended—

(a) by inserting at the end of section seven the following new subsection: —

(5) Where the annual superannuation allowance payable in pursuance of this section to a member of the Police Force was, immediately before the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six, within any of the ranges (i) to (iii) inclusive specified in the first column of the Table to this subsection, such annual superannuation allowance shall, unless the Governor in any particular case disapproves the increase, be increased by an amount to be determined by the Governor, but not exceeding—

(a) in respect of the period commencing on that day and ending on the thirteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six—

(i)   the amount shown opposite such range in the second column of the said Table; or

(ii)   an amount equal to the difference between such annual superannuation allowance and the amount in the third column of the said Table shown opposite the range within which such annual superannuation allowance falls,

whichever is the less; and
(b) as on and from the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six—

(i)   the amount shown opposite such range in the fourth column of the

specified in subsection four of sec­ tion eight of the Currency Act 1965 of the Parliament of the Common­ wealth of Australia) of such annual superannuation allowance and the amount in the fifth column of the said Table shown opposite the range within which such annual superannuation allowance falls,

whichever is the less.

(b) by inserting at the end of section ten the following new subsection : —

(5) Where any annual superannuation allowance granted in pursuance of this section and payable to a member of the Police Force was, immediately before the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six, within any of the ranges (i) to (iii) inclusive specified in the first column of the Table to this subsection, such annual superannua­

tion allowance shall, unless the Governor in any particular case disapproves the increase, be
increased by an amount to be determined by the
Governor, but not exceeding—
(a) in respect of the period commencing on that day and ending on the thirteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six—

(i)   the amount shown opposite such range in the second column of the

(ii)   an amount equal to the difference between such annual superannua­ tion allowance and the amount in the third column of the said Table shown opposite the range within which such annual superannuation allowance falls,

whichever is the less; and

(b) as on and from the fourteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-six—

(i)   the amount shown opposite such range in the fourth column of the said Table; or

(ii) an amount equal to the difference between the equivalent in decimal currency (calculated on the basis specified in subsection four of sec­ tion eight of the Currency Act 1965 of the Parliament of the Common­ wealth of Australia) of such annual superannuation allowance and the amount in the fifth column of the said Table shown opposite the range within which such annual super­ annuation allowance falls,

whichever is the less.
