s1 2 s6 Police Powers and Responsibilities (Pre-Olympic Training and Competition) No. 216, 2000 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Police Powers and Responsibilities (Pre-Olympic Training and Competition) Regulation 2000 . ˙ Declaration of pre-Olympic training and competition as special event 2. The pre-Olympic training sessions and competitions to be held on the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast for athletes taking part in the Summer Games of the XXVII Olympiad conducted under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, together with the accommodation of athletes, team officials and other officials associated with the conduct of the training sessions and competitions, are declared to be a special event. ˙ Period of special event 3. The declaration of a special event under this regulation is in force from the beginning of 18 August 2000 to the end of 1 October 2000. ˙ Special event sites 4. Each area included in the schedule is a special event site. ˙ Where authorised persons may exercise powers for special event 5. An authorised person may exercise powers the authorised person has under the Act, chapter 9, part 2, division 5 at a special event site. 1 ˙ Prohibited items 6. A person is prohibited from bringing onto a special event site any of the following— a pointed or edged instrument 1 See the Act, chapter 9 (Other powers), part 2 (Preserving safety for special events), division 5 (Powers for special event sites). An authorised person may exercise a power in division 5 only if the person’s instrument of appointment states the authorised person may exercise the power.

This regulation expires on 2 October 2000.
4 Police Powers and Responsibilities (Pre-Olympic Training and Competition) No. 216, 2000 ¡ SCHEDULE SPECIAL EVENT SITES section 4 PART 1—GOLD COAST SITES 1. The fenced facility known as the Carrara Sports Complex, located at Nerang-Broadbeach Road, Carrara, and having the Nerang- Broadbeach Road as its southern boundary and the Nerang River as its northern boundary. 2. The facility known as the Gold Coast Athletics Centre, located at University Drive, Southport, and having generally as its boundaries University Drive, Parklands Drive, Olsen Avenue and Smith Street. 3. The facility known as Hinze Dam, located at Gilston Road, Advancetown, limited to the water surface on the eastern side of the dam wall and spillway together with the rowing course, pontoons, boat shed and community recreation facilities adjoining or otherwise associated with the water surface. 4. The fenced facility known as the Palm Meadows Baseball Diamond, located at Palm Meadows Drive, Carrara, and bordered by Palm Meadows Drive, the Radisson Resort and the Palm Meadows Golf Course. 5. The facility known as the Sports Super Centre, located at Morala Avenue, Runaway Bay, together with the facility’s associated car park. 6. The facility known as Couran Cove Resort, located on South Stradbroke Island. 7. The facility known as Radisson Resort, located at Palm Meadows Drive, Carrara. 8. The facility known as Royal Pines Resort, located on both sides of Ross Street, Ashmore.

The facility known as Ewen Maddock Dam, located at Glasshouse Mountains Road, Mooloolah and having as its boundaries the Mooloolah Connection Road to the north, the Glasshouse Mountains Road to the east and south and Tunel Ridge Road to the west. 10. The facility, including its associated terminal and car park, known as the Maroochydore-Sunshine Coast Airport, located off David Low Way, Mudjimba, together with the road known as Friendship Avenue that provides access to the facility from David Low Way. 11. The facility known as the University of the Sunshine Coast, located at Sippy Downs Drive, Maroochydore and having as its boundaries Sippy Downs Drive to the north and east and University Way to the south, together with the accommodation facility known as Uni Central located at Varsity View Court.
