s1 2 s4 Police Powers and Responsibilities (Olympic No. 205, 2000 Football Tournament) ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Police Powers and Responsibilities (Olympic Football Tournament) Regulation 2000 . ˙ Olympic football tournament is special event 2. Each of the following is a special event for the Act, chapter 9, part 2 1 — (a) the football matches to be held in Brisbane between football teams taking part in the football tournament for the Summer Games of the XXVII Olympiad conducted under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee ( “Brisbane Olympic football matches” ); (b) training sessions for teams taking part in Brisbane Olympic football matches; (c) accommodation for team members, team officials, and other officials associated with the conduct of Brisbane Olympic football matches. ˙ Period of special event 3. The period for which the event is a special event starts on 2 September 2000 and ends at midnight on 26 September 2000. ˙ Special event site 4. s5 3 s7 Police Powers and Responsibilities (Olympic No. 205, 2000 Football Tournament) ˙ Where authorised persons may exercise powers for special event 5. During the special event, an authorised person may exercise powers the authorised person has under the Act, chapter 9, part 2, division 5 at a special event site. 2 ˙ Prohibited items 6. An item that is 1 of the following is a prohibited item— • a pointed or edged instrument • a laser light pointer • a flagpole • a baton or similar instrument • a paint bomb • a noxious or offensive substance • a flare • a device operated by remote control • an offensive weapon • a placard attached to a rigid object, for example, a piece of timber, by which it may be held. ˙ Expiry 7. This regulation expires on 27 September 2000. 2 See the Act. chapter 9 (Other powers), part 2 (Preserving public safety for special events), division 5 (Powers for special event sites). An authorised person may exercise some of the powers in division 5 only if the person’s instrument of appointment states the authorised person may exercise the relevant power.

Land enclosed by the nearest edge to the Brisbane Cricket Ground of the vehicular carriageways of Vulture Street, Wellington Road, Stanley Street and Main Street, Woolloongabba 2. Vulture Street, Woolloongabba, from a point 150 m west of Main Street to Main Street 3. Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Sports Centre and associated facilities, Kessels Road, Nathan 4. Ballymore Football Ground and associated facilities, Clyde Road, Herston 5. Suncorp Metway Stadium, Castlemaine Street, Milton 6. The Novotel Brisbane, 200 Creek Street, Brisbane, and the precincts comprising— • land enclosed by the nearest edge to the Novotel Brisbane of the vehicular carriageways of Astor Terrace, Henry Street, Cousins Lane and Cousins Street, Brisbane, including any structures on the land, other than the building known as the Interim Technology Tower • any gardens, walls or structural features, including vehicular access ramps, between Creek Street, Brisbane, and the land on which the Novotel Brisbane is built 7. The car park operated by Kings Parking on land having as its boundaries Astor Terrace, Henry Street, Cousins Lane and Cousins Street 8. The following roads adjacent to the Novotel Brisbane and Kings Parking— • Astor Terrace between Cousins Street and Henry Street
