AN ORDINANCE
To amend the Police Offences Ordinance 1930-1948.
| BE it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the | Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the |
Commonwealth of Austral ia, with the advice of the Federa l
| Seat of Government | Acceptance | Act 1909-1938 and the Seat of |
| Government | (Administration) | Act 1910-1947, as follows:— |
| 1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Offences short title | and citation |

(2.) The Police Offences Ordinance 1930-1948, as amended by
| this Ordinance, may be cited as the Police Offences | Ordinance |
| 1930-1953. |
| 2 . Section | sixty-eight | of | the | Police | Offences | Ordinance | Exceptions. |
1930-1948 is amended by omitting pa ragraph (c) and inserting in
| i ts | stead | the | following | p a r a g r a p h : — |
" ( c ) In an experiment or vivisection performed upon an animal for the purposes of scientific investigation in accordance with conditions, if any, determined by the Minister of State for Heal th by a person, or by a person acting under the direction, control and super- vision of a person, who—
(i) is a legally qualified medical or veterinary practit ioner, or is the graduate of a Univer- sity and is engaged in biological research; and
(ii) is authorized by the Minister of State for
, Heal th to perform experiments and vivi-
sections upon animals.".
