AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Police Offences Ordinance 1930-1948.

BE it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the

Commonwealth of Austral ia, with the advice of the Federa l

Seat of Government Acceptance Act 1909-1938 and the Seat of
Government (Administration) Act 1910-1947, as follows:—
1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Offences short title and citation

Ordinance 1953.

(2.) The Police Offences Ordinance 1930-1948, as amended by

this Ordinance, may be cited as the Police Offences Ordinance
1930-1953.
2 . Section sixty-eight of the Police Offences Ordinance Exceptions.

1930-1948 is amended by omitting pa ragraph (c) and inserting in

i ts stead the following p a r a g r a p h : —

" ( c ) In an experiment or vivisection performed upon an animal for the purposes of scientific investigation in accordance with conditions, if any, determined by the Minister of State for Heal th by a person, or by a person acting under the direction, control and super- vision of a person, who—

(i) is a legally qualified medical or veterinary practit ioner, or is the graduate of a Univer- sity and is engaged in biological research; and

(ii) is authorized by the Minister of State for

, Heal th to perform experiments and vivi-
sections upon animals.".
