POLICE LEGISLATION AMENDMENT ACT 1996 NO 29—

PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) G. SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels, AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Police Legislation Amendment Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint:

(a)

1 December 1996 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act (except the provisions referred to in paragraph (b)) commence, and

(b)

1 January 1997 as the day on which Schedule 1 [3]-[5] to that Act commence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Police Legislation Amendment Act 1996. The majority of those provisions will commence on 1 December 1996. However, provisions dealing with new police complaint procedures under the Police Service Act 1990 will commence on 1 January 1997.
