POLICE INTEGRITY COMMISSION ACT 1996—

PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) G. SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Police Integrity Commission Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 1996 as the day on which Parts 1 2, 6, 7 and 13 of that Act, and Schedules 1–3 to that Act, commence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the administrative and machinery provisions of the Police Integrity Commission Act 1996 (ie, those provisions relating to the constitution of the Police Integrity Commission, the appointment of an Inspector of the Commission, the functions of the Parliamentary Joint Committee, and other miscellaneous machinery matters). The provisions that remain uncommenced relate to such matters as the functions of the Commission, police complaints and other substantive matters.
