and Ireland of persons to senna; in the Police Eorce of New South W ales by Agents duly authorized for that purpose And it was provided hy the said Act tha t upon any such person agreeing Avith any such Agent for such service the person so engaging and the said Agent should respectively sign an agreennent in Avriting in the foi’m or to the effect specified in tlie Schedule to the said Act And Avhereas divers persons Avere sometime since engaged in Great Britain and Ireland for such seiwice by an Agent duly authorized and thereupon signed agree­ ments pursuant to the said Act but such agreements Averc not signed by such Agent And Avhereas the said persons Avere furnished by the Government of N oav South Wales Avith a free passage to this Colony

and upon their arrival were duly appointed hy the Inspector General of Police to serve in the Police Porce And whereas doubts have been raised as to the legal effect of such agreements hu t nevertheless many of su(di persons have since their arrival agreed to enter upon the said serviee in pursuance of the said original agreements and it is expedient to remove such doubts in reference to siudi of the said persons as have entered or shall hereafter enter into the said Police Eorce under the said agreements and appointments and to secure to them the full benefit of their said agreements Be it enacted by H is Excellency the Governor of New South Wales w ith the advice and c;onsent of the Legislative Council thereof as follows
