Police (Amendment) Regulations 1999

The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objectives

The objectives of these Regulations are—

(a)

to abolish the requirement to provide particulars of an alleged breach of discipline to a member before the member is charged; and

(b)

to allow the promotion of constables to the rank of senior constable in the same position without advertising the position.

2. Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 130 of the Police Regulation Act 1958.

3. Commencement

These Regulations come into operation on

22 August 1999.

4. Principal Regulations

Police (Amendment) Regulations 1999

In these Regulations, the Police Regulations 19921 are called the Principal Regulations.

5.  Abolition of requirement to provide preliminary discipline notice

Regulation 302(1) of the Principal Regulations is revoked.

6.  Promotion of constable to senior constable in same position

After regulation 501(2) of the Principal
Regulations insert—
"(3) The Chief Commissioner may promote a

constable who holds a position to the rank of senior constable in the same position without advertising the position if the constable is

qualified and otherwise able to satisfy the
eligibility criteria for promotion to the rank

of senior constable.".
