AN ACT to amend the Police Act 1892-1980.

[Assented to 4 December 1981.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Police nailtiat e i,;.

Section 76A

amended. 2. Section 76A of the principal Act is amended

(a) by deleting "or pearl" in both places where it occurs and substituting the following in each case-

" , pearl or uncut diamond " .

(b) by deleting "five hundred dollars" and sub- stituting the following-

" $10 000 " ; and

(c) by deleting "six months" and substituting the following-

" 2 years " .

Section 76B

amended. 3. Section 76B of the principal Act is amended by

deleting "or pearl" in both places where it occurs and

substituting the following in each case-

" , pearl or uncut diamond " .

Section 76C

amended. 4. Section 76C of the principal Act is amended

in subsection (1)-

(a) in paragraph (a) by deleting "or pearl" and substituting the following-

" , pearl or uncut diamond " ;

(b) by deleting "five hundred dollars" and sub- stituting the following-

" $10 000 " ; and

(c) by deleting "six months" and substituting the following-

" 2 years " .

Section 76D

amended. 5. Section 76D of the principal Act is amended—

(a) in subsection (1)-

(i) by deleting "two hundred and fifty dollars" and substituting the following-

" $5 000 " ; and

(ii) by deleting "three months" and sub- stituting the following-

" one year " ; and

(b) in subsection (2) by deleting "gold or pearl" in both places where it occurs and sub- stituting the following in each case-

" any gold, pearl or uncut diamond " .

Section 76E

6. Section 76E of the principal Act is amended amended.

(a) by deleting "or pearl" in both places where it occurs and substituting the following in each case-

" , pearl or uncut diamond " ; and

(b) by inserting after "pearl" at the end of the section the following

and the expression "uncut diamond" includes any crushed diamond, diamond dust, diamond fragment or partly cut or partly processed diamond " .
