POLICE. 19 GEO. V. No. 15, 1928. Police Acts Amendment Act. 12219 POLICE. An Act to further Amend "The Police Acts 19 Geo. V No 15. Amendment Act of 1921" (as amended by THE "The Police Acts Amendment Act of 1924") PAOMLEINCDEMAECNTST in certain particulars. ACT OF 1928. [ASSENTED TO 30TH OCTOBER, 1928.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- 1. This Act may be cited as "The Police Acts Short title Amendment Act of 1928" and shall be read as one with :~ cCt~ ~~ . '* "The Police Acts Amendment Act of 1921" (as amended by t" The Police Acts Amendment Act ot 1924") herein referred to as the Principal Act. 2. Section three of the Principal Act is amended by Amendments repealing the words "five pounds per centum" and to Principal inserting the words "five pounds and five shillings per ~~:tion 3. centum" in lieu thereof. 3. Section seven of the Principal Act is amended Section 7 by repealing the words" one hundred and twenty" and inserting the words" one hundred and twenty-five" in lieu thereof. ':l. Section eight of the Principal Act is amended Section 8. as follows:- (a) Before the words" If a member" occurring at the commencement of the section, the words "Subject as is hereinafter provided" are inserted; also, the words "one hundred and twenty" occurring in the first paragraph are repealed and the words "one hundred and twenty-five" are inserted in lieu thereof; and the said section as so amended shall be renumbered as subsection one of section eight accordingly. * 12 Geo. (b) The following new subsection two is inserted after section eight (now numbered subsection one of section eight), as follows:- :k!::f::. Increase of "(2.) Provided that if a member of the Police Force- a• retires from the Force under the foregoing provisions of a~ ce to cer. this Act subsequent to the passing of * " The Police Acts ~ l~ o~ i~ : ~ r: : . o Amendment Act of 1928," and is at date of such retire after retirement a non-commissioned officer with the rank of othfe" p T a h s e sing act'lng sergeant, or a non-comml.ss.lOned 0 ffi cer WI 'th a Police Acts rank higher than that of acting sergeant, or is a A A m ct e o n f d 1 m 9 e 2 n 8 t ." comml • ss . lOned 0 fficer, and such non-comml.ss.lOned 0 fficer or commissioned officer has, when he retires, served fifteen years or over in the Force, such non-commissioned officer or commissioned officer, as the case may be, shall be entitled to receive an additional allowance of fifteen pounds per annum over and above the superannuation allowance as calculated in accordance with the first paragraph of subsection one of this section eight: provided always that the total superannuation allowance- (including the additional allowance as aforesaid) on retirement shall not in any case exceed a rate of two hundred and seventy pounds per annum." Operation of 5. The operation of this Act shall take effect from Act. the passing thereof: so that the deduction from the- pay and salary of the several members of the Police Force, under the Principal Act as amended by this Act, namely, the sum of five pounds five shillings per cent'9-m per annum, shall be so made from th,e passing of this Act; and so that the amendment by this Act of the superannuation allowance payable under the Principal Act and the additional allowance as provided in the cases referred to in section four of this Act shall apply only to those members of the Police Force who retire from the Force, under the provisions of the Principal Act, subsequent to the- passing of this Act.
