743 QttEexts laxtt ANNO VICESIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 57 of 1971 An Act to Amend the Police Act 1937-1970 in certain particulars and for a related purpose [ASSENTED TO 2ND DECEMBER, 1971] BE IT ENACTED by the .Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Police Act Amendment Act 1871. (2) The Police Act 1937-1970 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Police Act 1937-1971.
744 Police Act Amendment Act 1971, No. 57 2. Commencement of Act. This Act shall come into operation on a date to be fixed by the Governor in Council by Proclamation published in the Gazette. 3. Amendment of s. 10 . Section 10 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (4) and inserting in their stead the following paragraphs:- " (4) (a) A married woman shall be eligible for appointment as a member of the Police Force if she is eligible otherwise to be so appointed. . (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act a female member of the Police Force who intends to marry may resign therefrom before the date of her marriage and the Commissioner shall permit such resignation. (c) A female member of the Police Force who intends to marry and who desires to be continued as a member after her marriage shall- (i) notify the Commissioner in writing not later than six weeks before the proposed date of her marriage of that date; and (ii) apply to the Commissioner in writing to be continued as a member after her marriage. (d) Upon receipt of the notice and application, the Commissioner shall determine whether or not the female member shall be continued as a member of the Police Force after her marriage."; (b) relettering paragraph (c) as paragraph (e). 4. Amendment of s. 30 .. Section 30 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the word " police " where it occurs three times and inserting in its stead in each case the word " stipendiary ". 5. Amendment of s. 57. Section 57 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting from paragraph (c) of subsection (2) the word " Division " where it occurs twice and inserting in its stead in each case the words " Police Region "; (b) omitting from paragraph (d) of subsection (5) the word " Division " and inserting in its stead the words " Police Region ". 6. Amendment of s. 58 . Section 58 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " the Court of Industrial Arbitration " and inserting in their stead the words " to any industrial court or industrial tribunal ". 7. Amendment of Police SuperannuationAct 1968-1970. (1) The Police Superannuation Act 1968-1970 is amended by repealing section 56. (2) The Police Superannuation Act 1968-1970 as amended by this section may be cited as the Police Superannuation Act1968-1971. 8. Amendments relating to currency references . The Principal Act is amended as set forth in the Schedule to this Act.
