AN ACT to amend the Police Act, 1892-1969.

[Assented to 29th April, 1970.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Police Act

Amendment

Section 23 of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words "inflict a fine not exceed- ing thirty dollars on the accused", in lines eight and nine, the words "caution or reprimand the accused or inflict a fine not exceeding thirty dollars on him".

Section 24 of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words "sentence such constable to pay a fine not exceeding twenty dollars or order his", in lines five and six, the passage "caution or reprimand the constable or sentence him to pay a fine not exceeding twenty dollars or order his reduction in rank,".

to s. 81.

Section 81 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by substituting for the passage beginning with the word "Every", in line one, and end- ing with the word "addition", in line twelve, the passage "A person who takes, uses, or assumes control of any boat, flat, or barge or any fitting or equipment, including any motor, thereon without previously obtain- ing the consent of the owner or person in charge thereof is liable to a fine of five hundred dollars or imprisonment for two years and in addition, on conviction," ; and

(b)

by substituting for the word "furniture", in line sixteen, the words "fitting or equip- ment".
