AN ACT to amend the Police Act, 1892-1964.

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Police Act

2. Section sixty-four A of the principal Act is Pii-062ded.

amended

(a)

by substituting for the passage commenc- ing with the word, "be", in line eleven of subsection (1), and ending with the word, "passed", being the last word in that subsection, the passage, "be liable on summary conviction

(c)

where the cheque was drawn for an amount not exceeding fifty pounds, to a fine of fifty pounds or to imprisonment for a term of six months; or

(d)

where the cheque was drawn for an amount exceeding fifty pounds, to a fine of two hundred and fifty pounds or to imprisonment for a term of twelve months,

notwithstanding that there may have been some funds to the credit of the account on which the cheque was drawn, at the time it was passed"; and

(b)

by adding after the word, "Police", being the last word in subsection (2), the passage, "or an Inspector of Police, authorised for the purpose in writing by the Commissioner of Police".

3. The principal Act is amended by adding,
