AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Police Ordinance 1927-1970.

I THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth , of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of
Government (Administration) Act 1910-1972.

POLICE ORDINANCE 1972

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Ordinance

1972.*

(2.) The Police Ordinance 1927-1970,t as amended by this Ordinance may be cited as the Police Ordinance 1927-1972.

2. Section 5A of the Police Ordinance 1927-1970 is amended by omitting sub-section (2A .) and inserting in its stead the following sub­ sections:—

" (2A .) The Chairman of the Tribunal shall be a member of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission, who shall, subject to the next succeeding sub-section, be appointed by the Governor-General by instrument in writing.

Authorised by the ACT Parliamentary Counsel—also accessible at

" (2B . ) The member of the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission who was the Chairman of the Tribunal immediately before the commencement of the Police Ordinance 1972 continues to be the Chairman of the Tribunal until—

(a) he resigns his office as the Chairman;

(b) he ceases to be a member of that Commission; or

(c)

another member of that Commission is appointed, in pur­ suance of the last preceding sub-section, to be the Chair­ man of the Tribunal.".
