POLICE

No. 17 of 1970

An Ordinance to amend the Police Ordinance 1927-1967,

and to validate appointments made to the

Police Force.

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Ordinance

1970.*

(2.) The Police Ordinance 1927-1967,t as amended by this Ordinance, may be cited as the Police Ordinance 1927-1970.

2.   Section 5 of the Police Ordinance 1927-1967 is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-section (2.) the words " shall be made in such manner as is prescribed, and," and inserting in their stead the words " shall be made in writing and,"; and
(b) by inserting, in that sub-section, after the words " industrial agreements ", the words ", shall be on ".

3 . An appointment of a person to be the Commissioner of "Police or to be a constable, sergeant or officer of police made on and after the commencement of the Police Ordinance 1927 and before the commence­ ment of this Ordinance shall be deemed to have been at all times before the commencement of this Ordinance, and shall be deemed to be at all times after that commencement, as valid and effective for all purposes as if, for the requirement, in sub-section (2.) of section 5 of the Police Ordinance 1927 or of that Ordinance as amended on the date on which the appointment was made, that the appointment be made in the manner prescribed for the purposes of that sub-section, there had been substituted a requirement that the appointment be made in writing.
