Poisons List Amendment Order (No. 4) 2000

I make the following order under section 14 of the Poisons Act 1971 .16 November 2000

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the Poisons List Amendment Order (No. 4) 2000 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette or on 1 December 2000, whichever is later. 3Principal OrderIn this order, the Poisons List Order 1998 is referred to as the Principal Order. 4Schedule 2 amended (Medicinal Poisons) Schedule 2 to the Principal Order is amended as follows: (a) by inserting after item 2007 the following:

2007E.  Azelastine in preparations for nasal use.

(b) by inserting after item 2012 the following:

2012M.  Bephenium salts.

(c) by inserting after item 2019E the following:

2019S.  Chlophedianol.

(d) by omitting items 2026 and 2027 and substituting the following:

2026.	Codeine when labelled with a recommended daily dose not exceeding 60mg of codeine and –
(a) compounded with a single non-opiate analgesic substance in tablets or capsules each containing 10mg or less of codeine when –
(i) packed in blister or strip packaging or in a container with a child-resistant closure; and
(ii) in a primary pack containing 25 or less dosage units; or
(b) compounded with a single non-opiate analgesic substance in individually wrapped powders each containing 10mg or less of codeine when in a primary pack containing 25 or less dosage units; or
(c) compounded with one or more other therapeutically active substances other than an antihistamine –
(i) in divided preparations each containing 10mg or less of codeine; or
(ii) in undivided preparations containing 0.25% or less of codeine.
2027.	Creosote for human therapeutic use except in preparations containing 10% or less of creosote.

(e) by inserting after paragraph (b) in item 2030 the following:

2031.  Dichlorophen for internal human therapeutic use.

(f) by inserting after paragraph (b) in item 2047 the following:

2047B.	Etofenamate in preparations for external use.
2047D.	Felbinac in preparations for external use.

(g) by inserting after subparagraph (iii) in paragraph (b) of item 2048 the following:

2048M.  Formaldehyde (excluding its derivatives) for human therapeutic use except in preparations containing 5% or less of formaldehyde.

(h) by omitting item 2060 and substituting the following:

2060.	Ibuprofen in preparations –
(a) for oral use when labelled with a recommended daily dose of not more than 1 200mg of ibuprofen –
(i) in divided preparations in packs of 100 or less dosage units each containing 200mg or less of ibuprofen; or
(ii) in liquid preparations when sold in the manufacturer’s original pack each containing 4 grams or less of ibuprofen; or
(b) for external use.
2061.	Indanazoline.

(i) by inserting after subparagraph (iv) in paragraph (c) of item 2092 the following:

2092E.  Paraformaldehyde (excluding its derivatives) for human therapeutic use except in preparations containing 5% or less of formaldehyde.

(j) by inserting after paragraph (b) in item 2099 the following:

2099M.  Piperazine for human therapeutic use.

(k) by omitting item 2100 ; (l) by inserting after item 2115 the following:

2115M.  Squill except in preparations containing 1% or less of squill.

(m) by inserting after item 2117 the following:

2117E.  Sulconazole in preparations for dermal use.

(n) by inserting after item 2118 the following:

2118S.  Tetrachloroethylene for human therapeutic use.

(o) by inserting after subparagraph (iv) in paragraph (b) of item 2120 the following:

2120B.  Thiabendazole for human therapeutic use.

(p) by inserting after paragraph (d) in item 2123 the following:

2123S.  Tuaminoheptane.

(q) by inserting after item 2125 the following:

2126.  Zinc chloride for human dermal use except in preparations containing 5% or less of zinc chloride.

5Schedule 3 amended (Potent Substances) Schedule 3 to the Principal Order is amended as follows: (a) by omitting item 3015 and substituting the following:

3015.  Codeine when compounded with a single non-opiate analgesic substance in divided preparations containing 10mg or less of codeine per dosage unit and with a recommended daily dose not exceeding 60mg of codeine, except when included in Schedule 2 .

(b) by omitting item 3034 ; (c) by inserting after item 3035M the following:

3035W.  Macrogol 3350 in preparations for oral use for bowel cleansing purposes.

6Schedule 4 amended (Restricted Substances) Schedule 4 to the Principal Order is amended as follows: (a) by inserting after item 40024 the following:

40024S.  Aldesleukin.

(b) by inserting after item 40105 the following:

40105E.  Azelastine except when included in Schedule 2 .

(c) by omitting item 40129M ; (d) by inserting after item 40261 the following:

7Schedule 5 amended (Domestic Poisons) Schedule 5 to the Principal Order is amended as follows: (a) by inserting after item 5015 the following:

5015E.	Anise oil except –
(a) when packed in containers having a nominal capacity of 50mL or less fitted with a restricted flow insert, and labelled with the warning –
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN; or
(b) in preparations containing 50% or less of anise oil.

(b) by inserting after item 5052S the following:

5052W.	Copper oxides in preparations containing 25% or less of copper oxides except –
(a) in preparations for internal use; or
(b) in marine paints; or

(a) when included in Schedule 2 ; or
(b) in preparations for the treatment of animals; or
(c) when absorbed into an inert solid.

8Schedule 6 amended (Agricultural and Industrial Poisons) Schedule 6 to the Principal Order is amended as follows: (a) by omitting item 6082 and substituting the following:

6082.	Cineole except –
(a) when packed in containers having a nominal capacity of 15ml or less fitted with a restricted flow insert, and labelled with the warnings –
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
NOT TO BE TAKEN; or
(b) when packed in containers having a nominal capacity of 25ml or less fitted with a restricted flow insert and child-resistant closure, and labelled with the warnings –

(a) when included in Schedule 2 ; or
(b) in preparations containing 5% or less of formaldehyde.

(g) by omitting item 6196 and substituting the following:

(a) when included in Schedule 2 or 5 ; or
(b) in preparations containing 0.5% or less of glutaraldehyde when labelled with the statements:

(l) by omitting item 6324 and substituting the following:

6324.  Quizalofop-p-ethyl except when included in Schedule 5 .

(m) by omitting item 6357 and substituting the following:

6357.	Tetrachloroethylene except –
(a) when included in Schedule 2 or 5 ; or
(b) in preparations containing 6% or less of tetrachloroethylene when absorbed into an inert solid; or
(c) in preparations for the treatment of animals.

(n) by omitting item 6387 and substituting the following:

6387.	Zinc chloride except –
(a) when included in Schedule 2 ; or
(b) in preparations containing 5% or less of zinc chloride.
