Poisons (Exempted Public Institutions) Order 2006

I make the following order under sections 3(1) and 55(3) of the Poisons Act 1971 .7 August 2006

1Short titleThis order may be cited as the Poisons (Exempted Public Institutions) Order 2006 . 2CommencementThis order takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette. 3InterpretationIn this order – Act means the Poisons Act 1971 ; Tasmania Prison Service means that part of the department responsible for the administration of the Corrections Act 1997 that is known as the Tasmania Prison Service. 4Public institutionsThe Tasmania Prison Service is declared to be a public institution for the purposes of the Act. 5Exempted public institutionsThe following public institutions are declared to be exempted public institutions for the purposes of section 55 of the Act: (a) the Tasmania Prison Service; (b) the University of Tasmania.

Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953.

Notified in the Gazette on 16 August 2006

This order is administered in the Department of Health and Human Services.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the order) This order –

(a) declares the Tasmania Prison Service to be a public institution for the purposes of the Poisons Act 1971 ; and (b) declares the Tasmania Prison Service and the University of Tasmania to be exempted public institutions for the purposes of section 55 of that Act.
